This Cookie Policy explains cookies and similar browser storage used across giz.ai. Giz Inc. owns giz.ai's first-party storage. Optional services are limited to those listed below.
Your choice
Essential storage operates because it is necessary to deliver, secure or protect the Service. In the EEA, giz.ai asks before enabling optional analytics cookies and affiliate attribution. In the UK, restricted aggregate service statistics and anonymous A/B assignment operate without prior consent under the statistical-purposes exception; full analytics and affiliate attribution remain off unless you allow them. Elsewhere, optional analytics storage and attribution are enabled by default where permitted. Choosing Reject optional stops optional browser measurement and storage without blocking paid core features. Open Cookie settings in the public footer or Account settings → Data & privacy at any time to object or change the choice. Data already lawfully collected follows the Privacy Policy.
Essential storage
| Name/category | Owner | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| accessToken, refreshToken and authentication state | Giz Inc. | Sign-in, account security and shared session across giz.ai | Session or up to 1 year, subject to sign-out/revocation |
| gizPrivacyConsent | Giz Inc. | Remember the Policy version and your privacy choice | 1 year |
| giz.locale, theme and interface preferences | Giz Inc. | Remember requested language and display settings | Until cleared or the preference is replaced |
| pfb9 | Giz Inc. | First-party pseudonymous signal for free-benefit fraud prevention and security | 30 days in browser; server pseudonym 30 or 90 days as described in Privacy |
| Transaction, CSRF, checkout and runtime cookies | Giz Inc. | Complete a user-requested transaction, secure requests or connect an authorized runtime | Session or the shortest operational period |
The pfb9 browser value is a hash derived from the browser and rendering characteristics listed in the Privacy Policy. Giz's server converts it with a secret-key HMAC before comparison or storage. We use the server pseudonym, rather than a shared IP address alone, when a device signal is available. We do not use it for analytics, advertising, Community ranking or cross-site tracking and do not send it to external vendors.
Analytics storage and experimentation
| Name/category | Owner/recipient | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| rybbit-user-id (local storage) | Giz Inc. | Link page and feature analytics to a signed-in account | Until sign-out, withdrawal or browser clearing |
| abVariant | Giz Inc. | Assign an anonymous browser to a product experiment before sign-in | Up to 1 year |
| initialInfo | Giz Inc. | First referrer, landing URL, time, language and connection class for acquisition measurement | Up to 1 year |
Analytics runs on Rybbit, which Giz hosts itself; no analytics data goes to a third party. It sets no cookies. It runs only when full analytics is enabled by your choice or the regional default and your browser does not send a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, and then receives page paths without query strings, page titles, the external referrer, screen size, browser language, feature-event names and parameters, the experiment group and, when signed in, your account ID. Your IP address and user agent are used for coarse location, device type and a visitor key that changes daily, and are not stored. Before an EEA choice and in the UK statistical mode, analytics does not run. Choosing Reject optional stops it and clears its stored account ID. A signed-in user's product-experiment assignment is held in the account database and does not depend on the abVariant cookie.
Optional affiliate attribution
Where the regional default or your choice permits optional storage, giz.ai's first-party affiliate system reads a via or ref referral parameter and stores giz_affiliate attribution for the configured program window. A pseudonymous giz_affiliate_visitor value limits duplicate click counting. When you sign in, eligible attribution is associated with your giz.ai account and qualifying purchases; the browser values are then no longer needed for purchase attribution. Attribution is not required to use or purchase giz.ai.
Browser controls and contact
Browser settings can also block or delete storage, but blocking essential authentication or security storage can prevent requested functionality. For questions or rights requests, contact support@giz.ai.
